Team Development Process for an SME

I Background

A sizeable Swiss SME company in the packaging industry contacted us to carry out a management team development programme. Significant cost pressure and a competitive business environment, led to .. Management had decided to take measures in the area of Leadership and Teambuilding.

The firm's vision is summarised in the statement «Service, Enthusiasm and Earnings» and was used as the basis for the design of the process.

The elements of these guiding principles relevant for our work included:

- We set ourselves clear and measurable goals to stimulate above average performance.
- We have an overview of the business and are aware of the importance of our contribution to the
  achievements of the whole enterprise.
- We treat each other openly, honestly and with respect.
- We can bear criticism and deal positively with it.
- We are ready to analyse past and present experience critically.
- We take responsibility for our own actions.
- Our thinking is solution oriented and not problem oriented.
- We create an atmosphere in which enthusiasm, creativity and satisfaction with the work can develop.

The Leadership and Team Development process objectives were specified in close co-operation with the CEO and the HR manager as follows:
- Recognition of the criteria and characteristics of high achievement teams.
- Living and practical implementation of the guiding principles «Service, Enthusiasm and Earnings».
