Project Manager Training in association with the Executive MBA of Business Engineering at the University of St. Gallen |

I Background
The EMBE, Executive MBA of Business Engineering staff of the University of St. Gallen was looking for a team of qualified a dvisers for the one week module «Change and Project Management» as a result, we developed a concept in co-operation with them.
The following objectives were defined and successfully fulfilled:
Broadening the knowledge and experiential basis for Project Management competence by means of:
- analysis of participant projects
- acquisition of targeted Project Management knowledge by awareness of the underlying theory (PMIBoK)
- use and training of Project Management abilities in real-life situations
- reviewing of project processes with reference to success and failure factors
- transfer of what was learnt into the personal everyday project environment
- summarisation of what was learnt in a Concluding Document
II Practical Results for the Participants
- development of project management knowledge
- higher leadership quality in the project environment
- improved understanding of their own projects
- recognition of stumbling blocks and success factors in projects
- awareness of their own business culture
- development of their own user-friendly PM manual
III Seminar Concept
The project manager training was accomplished using the Learning Company concept, which is characterised as follows:
- Participants experience the dynamics and conflict areas between line andProject management structures
- Actual product of the Learning Company is learning i.e. development and deepening of social competence
- High degree of self organisation promoting self-responsibility for reflection and action |
